Embracing Luxury in Nature: Our Journey with AutoCamp
AutoCamp Russian River is a hospitality project with an innovative concept that redefines outdoor spaces, nature and the breathtaking beauty of the Russian River Valley.
When we first started our collaboration with the AutoCamp team, the vision was clear: to create a boutique hotel concept that marries the splendor of the great outdoors with unparalleled luxury. AutoCamp stands as a testament to this vision, combining cutting-edge architecture with distinctive guest amenities to form a destination like no other.
A Symphony of Indoor and Outdoor Spaces
One of the standout features of AutoCamp is its open-air clubhouse, a sanctuary that spans 3,000 square feet and effortlessly blurs the lines between interior and exterior. Nestled in a serene redwood forest, with the gentle murmur of a creek providing a soothing soundtrack, the clubhouse offers guests an immersive experience. The design employs board-formed concrete walls, rough-sawn redwood ceilings, and blackened steel, creating a pavilion that reflects the rugged beauty of its natural surroundings while ensuring durability.

Mid-Century Modern Elegance
The architectural design of the clubhouse is inspired by mid-century modern aesthetics, blending sophistication with natural charm. This design choice is evident in the clean lines, organic materials, and open spaces that characterize the clubhouse. Every element was carefully selected to harmonize with the environment, providing guests with a tranquil yet stylish retreat. As a part of the design team working with Architect Dan Weber, I was exposed to innovative thinking that led to the partial enclosure of the clubhouse with canvas walls, the expressive structural layout with walls and beams extending beyond the roofline, and ensuring the central meadow was framed in view from the first moment of arrival.

Creating Communal Spaces
One of the joys of working on AutoCamp was designing spaces that foster community and connection. From the reception areas to communal dining and event spaces, the clubhouse is designed to bring people together. Whether guests are sharing a meal, participating in an event, or simply relaxing on the patio, the clubhouse serves as a hub of activity and interaction, allowing visitors to create lasting memories.

A Resounding Success
The success of AutoCamp has been nothing short of exhilarating. This site was their first location that was both exclusively AutoCamp and brought in amenities like the Club House and other gathering space. The overwhelming positive response has not only affirmed our vision but has also paved the way for the expansion of AutoCamp locations across California and beyond. This project has truly been a catalyst for revolutionizing outdoor hospitality, setting a new standard for luxury camping experiences.
