Interior Design: A Nostalgic, Cozy Atmosphere

Interior designer Julanda Shannon has curated an environment that evokes a deep sense of comfort and nostalgia. Rich wood paneling, built-in casework, and upholstered ceilings create a layered, textural experience. Plaid walls offer a timeless charm, reminiscent of classic lodges, making the home feel both grounded and inviting.

Features

  • The material palette is a tribute to the organic beauty of its setting. Heavy board-on-board siding weathers naturally, mirroring the deep textures of the surrounding Ponderosa trunks. A weathered copper roof crowns the structure, aging gracefully with the elements. The home’s design is punctuated by soaring two-story timber curtain walls in the main living space, allowing morning sunlight to flood in from the east and framing dramatic sunsets over the lake in the evening.

  • Inside, the Tanager Residence is a balance of craftsmanship and nostalgia. A lofted play area creates a special retreat for children, while a grand stone fireplace—sourced from rocks found on-site—anchors the main living space with its enduring presence. Reclaimed beams further enhance the warmth and authenticity of the common areas, celebrating the passage of time and history in every detail.
